About the Wisconsin briefings

Operating questions ask voters to let a district exceed its state revenue limit, either for a set number of years (non-recurring) or permanently (recurring). Borrowing questions ask to issue bonds, usually for buildings, repaid through the property-tax levy. $802.2M in borrowing is on the ballot statewide.

Ballot wording comes from sample ballots, county clerk and newspaper legal notices, and district websites, as published by October 6, 2026. Where a question had not yet been published, the card says so and shows the text the district filed with the Department of Public Instruction.

Each briefing compares the district with its peers, the districts most like it on enrollment, spending per pupil, students per teacher and the share of economically disadvantaged students; with regional peers, comparable districts within 25 miles; and with the median Wisconsin district. The briefings use public data only.

About the Indiana briefings

Operating questions ask voters to approve a property-tax rate for school operations for up to eight years, outside Indiana’s property-tax caps. A renewal continues a referendum voters approved earlier. School safety questions fund safety programs and staff. Borrowing questions approve bonds for a building project.

Ballot wording is quoted from the Department of Local Government Finance’s final determination on each question. The median-home figure is the county auditor’s certified estimate, printed on the ballot itself. Past results are DLGF’s historic referenda records, which give the outcome but not the vote.

Each briefing compares the corporation with its peers, the corporations most like it on enrollment, spending per pupil, students per teacher and the share of economically disadvantaged students; with regional peers, comparable corporations within 25 miles; and with the median Indiana corporation.

About the Ohio briefings

Ohio school districts ask voters for property-tax levies (new operating money, renewals of existing levies, or permanent-improvement levies for capital needs), bond issues for buildings, and school district income taxes. Because Ohio’s tax-reduction factors hold most voted levies to a fixed number of dollars, districts return to the ballot regularly; renewals usually pass and new money usually does not. Since January 2026, new emergency, substitute and replacement levies are no longer allowed.

The list of issues comes from the Ohio School Boards Association’s pre-election database, checked against county board-of-elections lists. Ballot wording is quoted where a county board has published it (as of October 11, 2026); elsewhere the card summarizes the terms, and the wording will be added as county notices appear. Past results are OSBA’s unofficial election records.

Each briefing compares the district with its peers, the districts most like it on enrollment, spending per pupil, students per teacher and the share of economically disadvantaged students; with regional peers, comparable districts within 25 miles; and with the median Ohio district. Career centers and educational service centers on the ballot get a short page with the issue and its record only.
